Check Tire Pressure, Tread Regularly

You need good tires to ride safely on the road. There are two aspects of tires you need to keep a check on to make sure you don't have a blowout. The first thing to monitor is tire pressure. Over-inflated or under-inflated tires can lead to blowouts. With under-inflated tires, there is more friction between tires and the pavement. That could lead to a blowout.

Use a tire pressure gauge to check your pressure. Check your owner's manual for the recommended amount of pressure for your car's tires. Tire tread should also be checked regularly. You should maintain enough tread to grab the road. Place a penny upside down in the tread. If tread doesn't come past Lincoln's head, you need new tires.
